Obituary for Richard Kahana II
RICHARD “TODY” KAUKAOHA KAHANA II of Kualapu’u, Moloka’I formerly of Hau’ula, Oahu passed away peacefully at surrounded by his children and grandchildren on October 1, 2017 at the age of 71.
He was the grandson of the late Charles and Dorothy Kahana, son of the late Christina and Lei Silva and husband to the late Jennifer Mamo Kahana.
Tody attended Hau’ula Elementary and Kahuku High School. He attended the Gospel of Salvation in Hau’ula as a young boy and was in their church choir. Tody was a member of the Hau’ula Hobos, Lanikila Horse Shoe Club, and numerous of volley ball and mountain ball teams.
Tody was employed by Edwards & Sans Construction, Bucks Roofing Co., Larry Jeff Farms of Molokai and Molokai Coffees of Hawaii.
Tody was a funny man that turn every bad situation into a joke. He loved his oldies music and loved to dance. He was the biggest Kahuku Red Raider Fan! Tody was a very giving person that was gave his shirt of his back for anyone, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He raised and took in many who was I need of any help.
Tody is survived by his children: Nolan Potts, Sheila (Adam) Geiger, Christine (Talbert) Kahana, Dorothy (Kiaka) Gaughen, Pearlinda (Richard) Kahana-Awai, Dawson (Tammie) Kahana, Charles (Andrea) Kahana, James (Deija) Kahana, Honoree (Siua) Tauaalo, Donald Marasco, Jon Pol & Alohalyn Espejo
Siblings: Arthur Atta Parkin, Vernon Pocho Cox (Deceased), Terry Kahana (Deceased), John Silva, Henry Silva(Deceased), Christine Tita (Deceased), Elizabeth Hanawahine, June Silva, Mildred Apao, Edna Tokunago, Faith Sunio.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Hau’ula Congregational Church (across of the Hau’ula Beach Park) from 9-1pm.
Services for Molokai will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Kualapuu Rec. Center at 10am.
Private services to be held for the scattering of ashes at a later date.
